Last night the Reach To Forest festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. was an artistic and fun event.
First, the movie called The Life of Trees in a dome shaped theatre. We sat on bean bag loungers. There’s been an art show going around various cities where they exhibit Van Gogh paintings on the walls and ceilings in a kaleidoscope of light and music. This was that for trees, with an educational twist for young people added in.
I enjoyed the 3D aspect of the animated film. Walking beneath a grass and wildflower landscape. Delving into the root system of a large Oak tree. And flying through branches.
Indigenous Benches of Brasil. In this art exhibit, woodworkers are on site and carving benches as you tour the event. The benches are kind of like animal totems, with a useful purpose of being a bench. My favorite was this Black Jaguar, with very intense eyes…

Finally, the Acupunk Performance. This for me was rained out. Sad. There is a video of the show online at the Kennedy Center YouTube Channel if you care to see it.
